ALL-IRELAND SHC QUARTER-FINAL:
Cork 1-18 Waterford 1-13

21.07.2005: treaty gives CIA powers over Irish citizens
US investigators, including CIA agents, will be allowed interrogate Irish citizens on Irish soil in total secrecy, under an agreement signed between Ireland and the US last week. (See www.irishexaminer.com for full story)

15.07.2005: online chat rooms being bombarded by dim-wits (or sponsored hooligans?) the evening echo has had to close its chat rooms, archiseek.com accused of being governed by vested interests that denigrate the status of the elderly.

08.07.2005: cork city mourns london bombing. the uk government have been urged to carefully avoid backlash reactions that may only strengthen terrorists position.

05.07.2005: cornmarket street traders are looking for a bit of action..... come on city council, lets sort out the roadworks at daunt square!

30.06.2005: ARTISTS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO SELL ON THE STREETS! the law in relation to street trading has been mis-applied according to many artists/ artisans in cork who wish to trade on the street. artists should be able to apply for a reasonably priced license for one or two days. this would greatly enhance the experience of visiting cork, and give people a chance to make a living from their own produce instead of being forced to draw the dole. cork city council introduced a scheme for artists to sell art in bishop lucey park last year, but (i) did not support/ market the initiative, and (ii) insisted that artists take out their own public liability insurance instead of applying their own public indemnity. comments to paul@newcorkcity.com
